Billions of people worldwide have directly and indirectly been impacted by the Coronavirus-19 pandemic. This has caused huge ripple effects worldwide economically, socially and of course medically.

The speed in which this virus has moved has created unprecedented pressures and strain on ourselves, our social networks and the wider communities. Everyone has experienced disruptions, fear, and have anxieties around the uncertainty of today and our tomorrows’.

However, in this time of crisis, it is important to focus on what’s in our control and learn how now we take a step back to reflect on ourselves, our actions during and what we will remember of ourselves and others in the years to come.

  • Was this the time of great creativity and innovation to tackle new challenges within your life or the time to retreat and withdraw into helplessness?
  • Was this the time you collaborated with others to support connectivity between solutions or the time you attacked or minimised others efforts for your own status and recognition?
  • Was this the time of giving- whether volunteering your time and putting your unique skillsets to solving challenges or the time you took from others-whether hoarding resources, ingenuine offers to help and unreasonable demands on what others should give to you?
  • Was this the time you spoke out about misinformation, conspiracy theories and stopped rumours about things experts don’t yet understand or the time you shared unverified sources, was involved in conspiracy theories to validate your fears or scare others?
  • Was this the time that you struggled to isolate from events and people you truly wanted to physically be with or the time you ignored guidelines, found the gaps or made your own exceptions to the rules?
  • Was this the time of great reflection, appreciation of what you have and for those risking their lives to protect us, or the time filled with complaints and frustration for how things should have been different?

We all know people along the spectrums of these questions but we only have the power to control ourselves, how we were during it and how we will remember ourselves as a time of transformation or regrets. We may forget, excuse or minimise our actions but others will remember and may change how they see us and once we have overcome COVID-19.

How will you be remembered?
